Ways to Brighten Your Winter: May Faves

Hi friends, I am finally free from exams! It’s been an intense 2 weeks. Anyway, I hope you have all been well and studying hard. My brain has never been so fried in my entire existence. Can you believe it’s already winter? I can’t. It’s too cold to function, and it’s super cloudy most of the time here. What can I say; it sucks. Although I’ve spent most of May stressing over my grades, school, work and my future, here are some things that have made it a bit better.

First things first, I really want to talk about ‘Archer’.

TV Show: Archer

I started watching it earlier on during May. I’ve only finished up to season 8: Dreamland, since these are the only ones that are available on Netflix. The first four seasons are by far the best, acting as a parody of all the spy movies we have become accustomed to. I really enjoy the comedic drama and office politics between the characters, and it’s a fun dynamic to watch. Later seasons are more experimental and place characters in outlandish situations, the show is still just as funny and clever. I must admit though, Dreamland was a hard watch and took on a lot more of a serious tone that I wasn’t used to comparing to previous seasons. In addition, the stakes didn’t feel as high and there was no real urgency. I won’t reveal why, because it will spoil season 7.

Despite this, I think it’s one of the best animated series I have watched in a long time. I would easily place this above ‘Ricky and Morty’.
‘Archer’ is a show you’ll find yourself laughing a little too hard when really terrible things are being played out. And I think that’s a true mark of good writing.

Fashion: Silver boots and Megan Grant + Gorman Collaboration

Jacket from Warehouse, Skirt from Zara, Bag from Nakedvice and Shoes from Tony Bianco

Ever since I first saw them, it was love at first sight. I think it’s going to be a hot trend for the winter and a great addition to your shoe collection. Since they are silver they can pretty much match anything, it’s a great statement piece to have that adds a little edge. I’m a sucker for boots with sharp tips, it makes me think that anyone who wears them exudes confidence and style.

Jumper from Megan Grant + Gorman, Pants from Uniqlo, Shoes from Windsor Smith

The prints that were released from the Megan Grant + Gorman Collaboration are my favourite by far. I own the Blythe print jumper and the green jungle tote(in the feature photo), it brightens my mood! It is such a wonderful collection. Since they are such loud and distinct prints, they can be matched with a lot of basic items in my wardrobe.

Skin Care: The Ordinary – Salicylic Acid 2%

Holy smokes! This product is a miracle! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it has really improved my skin. I can’t speak highly enough about this product. It was a stressful time of the semester where all my assignments were due and had a gazillion tests; it came to my rescue.

I admit, I hadn’t been eating that well and wasn’t consistent with my exercise during that time. So, that could have been why I broke out. It wasn’t hormonal. But since that period has passed it’s still keeping my skin clear and acne free. I apply this in the morning and evening after my toner each time. In the mornings I apply Soft Nivea moisturiser and sunscreen. In the evenings I follow it with my Retinol 0.5% in Squalane (every other day), the ‘Buffet’ peptide solution and apply the same moisturiser before bed.

I will definitely be purchasing it again.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my post and thanks for stopping by! Soon I’ll be uploading a post about getting into the routine of running, so stay tuned for that!
I hope you are all doing well, see you all soon!
