A Review: The Ordinary Skin Care.

Yes, I am back with a skin care review! I have heard many rave reviews about this brand, and decided to give it a go myself. Since one of my new years resolutions was to take better care of my skin. I went ahead and purchased the “Buffet” peptide serum and the “Retinoid 2% Emulsion”.

“Buffet”
targets fine lines, wrinkles, textual irregularities and provides surface hydration.

Turns out the dark glass packaging is to protect from UV rays, I always thought it was for aesthetics!

Retinoid 2% Emulsion
targets skin textural irregularities and signs of ageing. This is the lowest concentration in the range and I experienced no irritation. However, it’s best always best to err on the side of caution and take a patch test.

Both products mainly help with skin texture and ageing. Sure, you may think that I am far too young to worry about ageing! But, the best way to avoid ageing is to take preventative measures.

Day 1

I first applied the Buffet serum onto my face after I had washed it in the morning. It was a cloudy white consistency and was very spreadable. When it had finally dried/ absorbed into my skin, it felt very sticky. Fun tip; One pump of serum is enough, or even half since it’s so watery.

In the evening, after I had showered and gave my face a thorough clean, I applied the retinoid. I experienced no irritation. However, my skin got a little angry, and I had broken out a little on my cheeks. To be fair, my skin was already not at it’s optimum.

Let the skin purge begin!

First week

There were no visible results at this time.
My skin did calm down a little though.

1 Month

I continued to apply Buffet on my face every morning and night after toning my skin, and the retinoid once or twice a week in the evenings.

I enjoyed using these products a lot, because it made me feel like I was doing something good for myself. I felt so bougie!

All in all, I did notice a difference in my skin. My skin texture has evened out a little and it has a slight glow to it now. Although the changes to my skin are slight, I would still recommend it to anyone. These products are the type that must be used for a prolonged period to truly reap the benefits. I’ll definitely give an updated review in a year!
